– The first three of six Mi-35 attack helicopters for the Afghan National Army Air Corps (ANAAC), donated by the Czech Republic and refurbished by Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan, arrived recently adding to the ANAAC’s fleet and growing capabilities.

– Major General Richard P. Formica took command of Combined Security Transition Command–Afghanistan December 18, becoming CSTC-A’s third commanding general. Major General Formica relieved Major General Robert W. Cone, who returns to the United States after an 18-month tour.

Afghan Minister of Defense lauds CSCT-A partnership with ANA

KABUL, Afghanistan, October 16, 2008 – Afghan Minister of Defense Gen. Abdul Rahim Wardak thanked Maj. Gen. Robert W. Cone, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan commanding general, and the servicemembers under his command for “their tireless efforts and colossal investment” in bringing a renewed security to the Afghan people. Wardak attended a shoulder sleeve insignia patch ceremony conducted at Camp Eggers in Kabul, Oct. 16.
